If I was to be stranded on a deserted island, and could have one thing, it would be the Bible. Jesus is not here physically right now, and he has left us the Holy Spirit who would undoubtedly be there with me on the island. He has also left us his words, his deed, his heart in the form of the Bible. Right now we wait to inherit him fully, face to face, and till then, even in the imagined isolation of the island, the entirity of what is needed is summed up in him. So while I know I know i would need food, I would need protection from the elements and wildlife, I would need more than anything else, Jesus. And Jesus is found in the pages of the Bible. All the other needs I am confident he would meet, even if he were to “slay me” (Job 13:15), I know he will take care of all I need.
